Eternal Hope in Haiti January 22, 2010 Thanks to the generosity of GAC parents, students, faculty and staff, $18,148.44 was collected and sent to Eternal Hope in Haiti (EHIH) on very short notice. GAC parent/alum Angie Haynes and a medical team arrived at the orphanage today and are assessing the situation. Updates on their progress are posted to the "field journal" blog on the EHIH website. GAC Coach Selected as Coach of the Year for Georgia December 2, 2009 Congratulations to Varsity Boys Soccer Coach, Thom Jacquet, who was selected as Coach of the Year in Georgia by members of the Georgia National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Coach Jacquet led the GAC Spartans to the 2009 GHSA state championship in Class AA. He now is being considered for Region 3 Coach of the Year which encompasses seven southern states.
Basketball Season Begins! December 2, 2009 Opening night began strong as all teams won their first home games last night. GAC has a rich tradition of success in basketball dating back to the 1970’s. National Merit SemifinalistsSeptember 16, 2009 Congratulations to Nick Chizek and Trey Martin for being recognized as semifinalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship competition. This academic honor is based on their 2008 PSAT scores and places them among the top 1% of students in the nation. Nick and Trey now begin the scholarship application process to qualify as National Merit Scholarship Finalists which will be announced in early February.
Sharing With OthersSeptember 16, 2009 The tradition of helping organizations outside our school during the GAC magazine sale began in September, 2001, when the sale was interrupted by the tragic circumstances of "9-11". The sale resumed the following week with a pledge to donate $10,000 of the proceeds to the American Red Cross for assistance at Ground Zero in New York City. Click here to read more.
