Snoopy The Musical Wins Top Honors At Georgia Theatre Conference
10/21/2009

Back Row: Jackson Horne, Nick Coker, Jacob Baker, Rachel Huppertz, Hannah Holdridge John Keeton & Connor Singletary;  Middle Row: Clif Jones, Zac Riedford, Joseph Arnold, Chelsea Mitchell, Aaron Joseph, Jillian Bass, Terry Pendleton, Trey Martin & Diane Harte; Front Row:  Hannah Harte, Hunter Greene, Page Parker, Brooke Tabor, Jessie Powell & Brittney Price

"Don't be anything less than everything you can be!" This song, from Snoopy the Musical might as well be Clif Jones' personal philosophy. He has certainly taught our students to give nothing less than everything when performing. This past weekend, GAC drama students performed Snoopy the Musical in competition against 19 high schools at the Georgia Theatre Conference for the honor to represent our state at the Southeastern Theatre Conference to be held in Lexington, Kentucky next March. There are no elimination rounds, and in our case at least, no understudies or second string. This year's ensemble received unprecedented perfect scores from two of the three judges. In addition to the ensemble's win, Aaron Joseph received recognition for his role as Charlie Brown by being named to the All-Star Cast, and Hannah Harte was honored as Best Actress for her role as Peppermint Patty.

Greater Atlanta Christian school drama students under the direction of Clif Jones have won the R. Lynn Woody Best Play award at the Georgia Theatre Conference seven times, the last time in 2003 with The Diviners. No other school in the state has won this many times. And now, Clif Jones has led another group of talented students to a eighth win. These eight GTC wins, combined with equally extraordinary twelve GHSA state championships brings the GAC theatre department to a nice round twenty state awards. Mr. Jones received the very cherished Georgia Theatre Conference Leighton Ballew award in 2005 for "distinguished service to theatre in Georgia."

Snoopy the Musical will compete again Nov. 6th at the AA Regional One Act Play competition at Buford High School.
