The GAC Elementary music curriculum builds a strong foundation for musical literacy and a life-long love of music making. All students are encouraged to sing, move, play instruments, sharpentheir listening skills, and develop an exciting working knowledge of rhythm, pitch, and musical styles, as well as an appreciation for music history.
| • |
1st & 2nd grade students enjoy playing a diverse selection of small percussion & world instruments, drums, glockenspiels, and hand bells |
| • |
3rd graders are introduced to larger Orff instruments, baritone ukuleles, and the keyboard. |
| • |
4th graders learn to play the recorder and continue to develop their keyboard, Orff, and ukulele skills. |
| • |
5th graders have opportunities to join band and orchestra, or to continue with general music classes. | Annual grade level musical performances encourage students to work together through singing, dancing, instrument playing, and acting. Confidence, poise and self-esteem are a few of the significant attributes fostered through musical learning and public performance.
