Academic Support

Academic Support is a service offered for current GAC 6th-12th grade students. While the Academic Support Program is not a special education program, it does provide limited structured academic assistance, test support, and educational learning.  Students enrolled in our Academic Support program benefit from all the resources available in the Learning Center.

Academic Support services are coordinated with and integrated into regular classes and curricular offerings.  The student’s educational schedule and curriculum are college preparatory with necessary learning accommodations made when appropriate.   Academic Support implements strategies as methods to assist the student to become a more independent learner.

The Academic Support staff works closely with the students, classroom teachers and parents.  The overall goal is for each student to develop an understanding of his/her difference and develop the skills for self-advocacy of these differences.

*A prerequisite to be in A/S is a diagnosis based on a psychoeducational evaluation.   Academic Support incurs an additional fee.
