Jekyll Island Mission Trip -Closed
Team Leaders: Joe Edlhuber and Britney Rey Dates: April 18-21, 2013 Cost: $250 price includes transportation, housing, all meals and work materials.
We head down to Jekyll Island to work with Mountains to Seas Ministries - http://www.mtn2sea.com and theJekyll Island 4H Center. The purpose of the trip is to serve those who would normally serve us when we go visit the Georgia Coast. Mountains to Sea Ministries provides free labor for ministries already working in areas reaching out to the community. Students will be working in a wide range of service projects from painting, landscaping, and general clean up of churches, community centers and large organizations. The 4H Center will provide students an opportunity to learn about beach ecology. We will also help get their facilities ready for their busy summer season.
Atlanta Inner City Missions - CLOSED
TEAM LEADERS: Dr. Overman and Jordan Overman DATES: April 5-7, 2013 COST: $75
Beginning the Friday of Spring Break, JH students will join hands with other students from the Atlanta Inner City Ministry (AIM) in service projects around Atlanta. The "trip" will include 3 days and 2 nights. Students and chaperones will spend the night in the Spartan Gym in order to regroup Saturday and Sunday for service activities.
Memphis, TN - CLOSED
TEAM LEADERS: John Connel, Dana Pritchett, Lori Reed DATES: April 5-8, 2013 COST: $275
While in Memphis we will partner with Egypt Elementary School to tutor students and perform skits for the whole school. We will also work with the Raleigh Community Church doing community clean up and passing out flyers. We will spend time with their youth having a devotional, performing skits and teaching kids classes.
Nashville, TN – Ladies Only - CLOSED
TEAM LEADERS: Britney Ray, Amy Chamblee, Julia Osteen DATES: April 6-9, 2013 COST: $250
Students will be working with adults and youth in the community. We will participate in various service works such as raking leaves and cleaning windows. Our students will provide a children's program for the children in the area.
Baton Rouge, LA CLOSED
TEAM LEADERS: Mandy Richey DATES: April 5-8, 2013 COST: $275
GACS students will travel to Baton Rouge, LA to work with Kin Ellis and the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ. Located just minutes from the campus of Louisiana State University, JH students will partner with the campus and family ministries at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ to serve the community. The highlight of last year's mission trip was setting up, working at, and cleaning up a church sponsored Easter Egg Hunt for over 500 local Baton Rouge families. Students are also given an opportunity to serve local souls in need through physical efforts and work with disaster relief organizations.
