Educational Travel

GAC Education Travel transforms students into global citizens.

At Greater Atlanta Christian School, learning extends far beyond campus. Middle and high school students explore the world through educational travel, learning excursions, study abroad programs, and mission experiences that connect classroom learning to the people, places, and cultures they encounter.

Through these opportunities, GAC students experience history, culture, language, science, the arts, and faith in ways that make learning tangible. They broaden their understanding of the world, gain new perspectives, and return to campus with memories and insights that stay with them long after the journey ends.

Learning Excursions

Each year, GAC sets aside a week for students to take their learning on the road. Learning excursions are immersive, curriculum-connected experiences designed around a particular academic, cultural, artistic, athletic, or service focus.

Students might explore the history and architecture of a major American city, study marine ecosystems in a coastal environment, visit college campuses, experience professional performing arts, explore national parks, learn about local industries, or serve organizations in the Atlanta community.

These trips give students the opportunity to learn by doing, connecting classroom concepts with real places, people, and experiences.

Study Abroad

Study abroad at GAC takes learning even further, giving high school students the opportunity to study a subject in the place where it comes to life. Students prepare academically before traveling, then apply their research and coursework through immersive experiences in another country.

Depending on the program, students may learn from native teachers, live with host families, conduct field research, explore historic and cultural sites, serve alongside local communities, and earn elective academic credit.

Study abroad opportunities typically take place during the summer, with programs rotating to give students multiple opportunities to participate during their high school years.

Global Missions

Global learning at GAC also includes opportunities to serve others and share the Gospel across cultures. Through the GAC Missions Program, students and teachers serve communities around the world while learning from the people and places they encounter. Mission experiences invite students to use their gifts, build relationships, and see God's work beyond their own community.
