GAC Athletic Hall of Fame- Class of 2024

Eight New Members Will Join The GAC Athletic Hall of Fame

The GAC Athletic Department is happy to announce a new Athletic Hall of Fame Class will be inducted this Fall.  The GAC Athletic Hall of Fame was created to recognize the outstanding athletic accomplishments of GAC alumni.  The first GAC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony occurred in January of 1999.  Since that time, there have been three additional inductions.  These induction ceremonies occurred in 2004, 2009, and 2014. The new class will feature eight inductees and the ceremony will take place on September 20, 2024. Read below to learn more about the members of the 2024 GAC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees.

Stewart Abrahart, 2011 - Soccer

Stewart Abrahart is an outstanding soccer player from GAC. As a four-year starter, he was instrumental in leading his team to a state championship in 2011. His exceptional skills earned him an ESPN Rise All-State honor in 2010, showcasing his defensive prowess and leadership on the field. 

Transitioning to collegiate soccer, Abrahart played for the UAB Blazers where he majored in Economics. Abrahart made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2011, starting 20 of 21 games and helping the Blazers' defense lead Conference USA with a 1.01 goals against average. He also earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Despite a redshirt year in 2013 due to injury, Abrahart returned strong in 2014, starting 11 games, contributing three assists, and being named to the C-USA All-Academic Team. He consistently demonstrated his defensive skills and academic excellence throughout his college career.

In addition to his high school and collegiate achievements, Abrahart also made significant contributions at the club level. Playing for Alpharetta Ambush under coach David Eristavi, he captained the team to state and regional titles and a USYSA National Championship in 2010, and helped the team reach the national finals in 2011. He was also selected to the Chelsea All-Star Team at the 2010 Disney Showcase.

Abrahart is an Investment Manager for LeifBridge in London, England. 

Rachel (Garcia) Byerly, 2013 - Soccer

Rachel Garcia Byerly is a distinguished soccer player from GAC. She was a Team Captain and 4 year starter on the Women's Varsity Soccer Team. She helped Greater Atlanta Christian win first ever Women's Soccer State Championship in 2012. Byerly received multiple honors including: 2013 Gatorade Georgia Soccer Female Player of the Year, 2013 AJC Player of the Year, 2013 Gwinnett Goal Club Player of the Year, Two-time All-Region Player of the Year, Two-time Gwinnett Daily Post Player of the Year, Two-time Super 6 Selection, and All Region Team across all 4 seasons. She holds the career record at Greater Atlanta Christian for Career Offensive Output by accumulating 146 goals and 46 assists. She also holds the record for single-season goals (53).

Byerly started on UGA Women's Soccer team both her Freshman and Sophomore year. She earned Topdrawer soccer list of top 100 freshman. Named to Honor Roll and Deans List. She was selected for SEC Academic Honor Roll and CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. She started on Harvard Women's soccer team both her Junior and Senior Year, earning Multiple Ivy League Player of the Week Honors, IVY League Honor Roll, and All Ivy League Team. She scored the game winning goal to secure the Ivy League Championship in 2016.

Byerly is a Consultant at Thought Logic Consulting. Rachel and her husband Tim were married in 2019. The couple live in Johns Creek with their daughter Gigi, who is a student in GAC's Young Learners program.

Chaney (Means) Dykes, 2010 - Basketball

Chaney Means Dykes was a standout basketball player at GAC, earning multiple accolades including Georgia Athletic Coaches Association AA All-State First Team honors and being named to the Atlanta Journal Constitution All-State First Team. She was a key player in leading her team to AA State Championships, Final Fours, and Elite Eights, while setting school records for most steals in a game (15), most three-point field goals in a career (118), and most consecutive games played (124). Her athletic prowess extended to softball, where she was a four-time GACA AA All-State First Team selection and held the record for most hits in a career. Additionally, she participated in varsity soccer and was recognized as Miss GACS and Miss Spartan Spirit in her senior year.

Dykes studied Exercise Science at Western Kentucky University and earned her B.S. in Nursing from  Eastern Mennonite University. She served as a two-year team captain at Western Kentucky and led her team to become Sunbelt Conference Champions in her senior year. Chaney was honored with the Western Kentucky Athletics Outreach Service Award for her outstanding contributions.

Chaney lives in Eagleville, Tennessee with her husband Casey and their three children, Jett (7), Kash (5), and Lainey (3).

Mollie (Mitchell) Lowry, 2008 - Softball

Mollie (Mitchell) Lowry is a standout softball player for GAC. A four-year starter, she led her team to three Region Championships and four State Tournament appearances, including runner-up finishes in 2006 and 2007 and third-place finishes in 2005 and 2008. Lowry was a four-time All-Gwinnett County Team and All-Region First Team selection, and a three-time All-State First Team honoree. She was also named the 2007 Gwinnett County Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned two Co-MVP titles. Lowry holds the GAC records for most career homeruns (8),  triples (15), runs scored (113), base on balls (72), total bases (204), and games played (156). In addition to her softball achievements, she lettered in basketball and was a member of the 2007 Basketball State Championship Team.

At the collegiate level, Lowry attended Lipscomb University and received her Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education. She had a standout collegiate career with the Lady Bisons. As a freshman in 2009, she set a school record with three home runs in a game and earned unanimous Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-Conference honors, as well as 2009 Atlantic Sun Player of the Week. In 2010, she hit .344 with seven home runs and 41 RBIs, earning unanimous All-Conference First-Team selection and two-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award. In 2011, Mitchell hit .236 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs, and was noted for her defensive prowess, committing just two errors in over 400 chances. She was also named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team. In 2012, Lowry was awarded All-Academic Team and Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team. Lowry also received her Masters in Secondary Education from Harding University.

Mollie and her husband Phil live in Florence, Alabama, where she works as a teacher and Assistant Athletic Director at Mars Hill Bible School.

Kalif Raymond, 2012 - Football

Kalif Raymond began his athletic career at Greater Atlanta Christian School where he excelled in football, track, and wrestling. As a senior, he captained the football team with 30 receptions for 511 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also part of the track team that set a school record in the 4x100-meter relay and won wrestling titles as the 2009 Area champion and 2008 County champion.

Raymond attended College of the Holy Cross where he majored in economics and played football. Raymond was a key player as a wide receiver and return specialist. He ranks third all-time in kickoff return yards (1,474), fourth in kickoff returns (66), and seventh in kickoff return average (22.3). His college highlights include a first-team All-Patriot League selection and a standout freshman season with 777 kickoff return yards and an 80-yard touchdown return. Raymond set a new Holy Cross single-game record with eight kickoff returns against both Harvard and Colgate.

In the NFL, Raymond signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He went onto play for the New York Jets (2017), Tennessee Titans (2019), and Detroit Lions (2021) as a wide receiver and punt returner.  Throughout his nine-year career in the NFL,  Raymond has played in 85 games, amassed 2,050 receiving yards, and caught six touchdowns as a wideout. On special teams, Raymond has gained 2,445 return yards (kickoff and punt return yards combined) and scored  one touchdown on a punt return in 2022. Raymond was named as an NFL Second-Team All-Pro selection  in 2022 for efforts as a punt returner for the Detroit Lions.

Kalif and his wife Julia were married in June of 2023. 

Christian Robinson, 2008 - Football

A standout player at GAC, Christian Robinson excelled as both a linebacker and tight end/receiver, earning All-Region, All-County, and All-State honors as a Spartan.

He continued his football career at the University of Georgia, where he played linebacker from 2009-2012. During his time as a Bulldog, Robinson appeared in 51 games with 17 starts, recording 159 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. Robinson was a key player on defense helping lead Georgia to back-to-back SEC East division titles and two SEC Championship Game appearances. Robinson also served as a spokesperson for the team and earned a degree in sports management from Georgia in 2012. 

After his playing career, Robinson began his coaching career at Georgia in 2013 as a defensive graduate assistant and quality control assistant. During his tenure, the Bulldogs led the SEC in turnover margin and ranked among the nation’s best pass defenses in 2014. Robinson quickly became recognized as one of the top young defensive minds in college football.

Robinson has recently joined Alabama’s staff to coach outside linebackers under Kalen DeBoer. Before this, he served as the inside linebackers coach at Baylor in 2023, following successful coaching stints at Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. At Florida, Robinson's linebackers were instrumental in achieving top national defensive rankings, contributing to the team's fourth-consecutive bowl appearance in 2021. 

Christian is married to Kaley Crook.

Joseph Thomas, 2004 - Football

Joseph Thomas was an four-time letter winner in both football and baseball in his tenure at GAC.  Thomas is the career (25) and single-season (13) sack record holder for GAC Football. In addition, Thomas was a two-time all region, one-time all county, and one-time all-state player. Thomas was the team captain of the 2008 Elite 8 team, a member of state runner-up team in 2002. Thomas also had a prestigious baseball career during his time at GAC and holds many records. After high school, Thomas was a preferred walk-on football player at the University of Georgia where he majored in Political Science. After college, Joseph began his coaching career at Athens Academy. Thomas is the Lower School PE teacher, head Varsity Track and Field coach and assistant Varsity Football coach at Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta. Joseph is a proud uncle of 4, Anderson, Olivia, Paige and Michael.

Amanda (Komisarow) Weber 2010 - Volleyball

Amanda Komisarow Weber began her impressive career at GAC, where she led her team to a 31-7 record and area championships in 2008 and 2009. Recognized as the 2009 Gwinnett Daily Post Volleyball Player of the Year, Weber was a two-time area Player of the Year and a three-time All-County First Team selection. She also holds her school's career records for kills and aces and was a member of the National Honor Society and a Commended National Merit Scholar.

At Furman University, Komisarow majored in health sciences and had a notable collegiate career in volleyball. As a sophomore in 2011, she appeared in all 30 matches, starting 16, and ranked second on the team with a .314 attack percentage. She led the Paladins with a .386 hitting percentage in Southern Conference matches and ranked third on the team in blocks. Weber recorded a career-high .692 attack percentage in a match against Wofford and set new career highs with 13 kills, four assists, and seven total blocks against College of Charleston. She was named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week in October 2011 and established a new career high with five digs at Florida Gulf Coast.

During her freshman year in 2010, she appeared in 19 matches, ranked fifth on the team with 13 service aces, and recorded a career-high three digs against Georgia Southern. She was also a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll in both years of her collegiate career.

Amanda Komisarow earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. After graduating she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Veteran's Affairs hospital in Birmingham, Alabama where she received advanced training in endodontics, oral surgery, and implantology. She is a practice owner and dentist at Pleasant Smiles Cosmetic & Family Dentistry. Amanda and her husband live in Charleston with their baby girl, Wynter.
