This offering introduces students to the higher-level skills necessary for academic independence.  Using a growth mindset approach, this class enables students to develop an executive function system and build a strong work ethic.  The course will teach students how to organize materials, effectively read and take notes, plan and manage time, and study and take tests.

Do you know who invented the drinking straw? Did you know the invention of sticky notes was an accident? All of the simple things we use everyday were invented by someone, and they all have a few things in common. Come find out how inventors come up with their ideas using the scientific method, and become an inventor yourself. Who knows, you might need a patent before the end of the course! Students are led through the Scientific Method to explore their ideas and create what they have imagined, step by step.

This is an interactive class in which students solve coding challenges by using the Blockly app and the Dash robot. If students check off the list of coding challenges, the teacher will issue a Dash Driver's License to each student that completes the challenges. Students may then create their own challenges and race their bots under difference conditions through an obstacle course that they create!

TGA Flag Football camps offer an exciting mix of instruction, games, and drills to help campers develop passing, catching, and defending skills while having fun and building friendships. Coaches enforce a NO CONTACT policy to maintain Safety and promote life lessons including Teamwork and Sportsmanship. TGA provides all equipment and a thoroughly trained staff of coaches to create a safe, supportive, and fun camp experience for your young athlete.

Get in the game with TGA’s Sports Medley Camp at GACS! Our action-packed camp will combine athletics, academics, and life lessons to create a dynamic experience that emphasizes safety, fitness, and fun. Certified coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamentals of throwing, catching, running, and defending skills used throughout many team sports. Each day will also incorporate a team game in line with the daily lesson to build skills and have a blast learning in a safe and supportive environment. All equipment will be provided for this camp.

This camp will focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control.  By the end of camp your child will have learned new game skills and also new life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship and made new friends.  Each day will start out with a skill session and those skills will be reinforced by playing some fun games that will highlight what was learned that day! We can’t wait to see you!

Our tennis camp is perfect for that individual looking to enhance their individual skill sets in a competitive, fun and engaging environment. Our primary focus towards fundamentals such as proper technique, strategy, and movement will help your child enhance their overall game. Additionally, our drills are designed to push your child in challenging environment while we utilize these skills towards game based and match play drills.

Our apprentice level dance camp is a wonderful opportunity for dance students to extend their training through the summer break. A variety of praise and worship dance forms will be covered including ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and lyrical; as well as instruction in nutrition, dance history, make-up, hair, pantomime, and improvisation.  Schedule varies. A daily devotional will be given during the lunch break. The week will end with an in-studio demonstration. Parents, siblings, and friends are invited to attend.

Through music and basic choreography your children will learn and display all aspects of performance in a small show at the end of the week. We will learn some new hip hop moves and grooves while incorporating performance skills, personality, and high energy. On Friday we will close out with a super fun dance performance - music video style!

• This class will focus on jazz technique and flexibility. We will work on stretching and strengthening the body while continuing to learn new skills. Jazz is a contemporary dance style seen from Broadway to modern dance combining a variety of styles into an overall discipline that can broaden any student's dance repertoire. An exhilarating class of rhythmic movement, Jazz is highly energetic and class is full of motivational music.

Elementary Tumbling 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

• This class will be a fun and exciting time! We will be working on tumbling skills including cartwheels, round-offs, aerials and handsprings! We will also focus on core strength and arm strength because these two things are critical when it comes to being a strong tumbler. Acro dance uniquely combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. A fun partner sport, Acro combines the beauty of dance and acrobatics for athletes of all ages, shapes, and sizes. This class will enhance the student in many ways including physical strength, flexibility, agility, balance, and grace, as well as the ability to work with others.

Elementary Hip Hop 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

• This class is going to Jam! Summer time hip-hop is going to be so much fun!!! We are really going to break it down and work on our stepping, break dancing, and everything else fun!!! Lots of energy and great music!! Students will learn specific movements such as body isolations, handstand freezes, syncopation, hand clapping/stepping, freestyle, and partner work. This will enable them to feel and identify with music, as well as develop a technique and style essential for performing. The class will serve to expand and nurture the dancer’s creative talent.

Ballet 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

• Through a progressive series of combinations at the barre, students will warm up while working on correct body alignment and turnout. After barre work, students will stretch and move into center. Center work includes progressive combinations of small and large jumps and turns through which students continue to work on correct placement, posture and turnout. Inspirational and classical music provide an enriching and stimulating environment. Class concludes with a reverence.

The Mini Masters Art Camp is designed for students who want to delve into the methods of the old and contemporary masters (Picasso, Van Gogh, Alma Thomas) and more! These emerging artists will learn the different techniques practiced during influential art periods including impressionism, pop-art, and portraiture to create their own original work. The curriculum strongly enforces a playful approach while incorporating fine art techniques, history, and building confidence within the practice. If you are looking for an engaging and fun way to learn and create over the summer, this is the camp for you!

Come explore the wild and colorful world of modern art through the eyes of contemporary masters like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Frida Kahlo! In this class, artists will learn about some of the world’s biggest hitters and explore new techniques while creating their own mater-inspired artwork. This class has all the classic techniques, from sculpting to painting to collage and more, but with the fun and funky twist, that modern art allows. Trust us – this is NOT your grandmother’s art class!

Fairytale Dance Camp is a wonderful introduction to ballet for young girls and boys with little to no experience in dance. Every student will fall in love with dance as they learn about their favorite fairytale characters and get swept away by their imaginations. The children will also enjoy a snack time enhanced by a daily devotional, various fairytale stories, crafts and dance vocabulary. There will be an informal performance at the end of the week to showcase all of the fairytale characters!

Every kid dreams of owning a hamster, dog, or maybe a kitty! In this critter-filled camp, their dream will come true, sort of! The kids will create pets of all shapes and sizes! At this camp, we will work with clay, paint and draw too! No trips to the pet store are required!

Students will be separated into appropriate levels based on age and ability. Both classes will have focused ballet technique, pointe, and variations, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, tap (and more) classes daily. Additional classes include various genres of relevant dance technique. Professional guest teachers will join our teaching team.Students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in the new state-of-the art theatre on campus. On Friday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m., dancers will present a showcase performance open to family and friends in the Performing Arts Center, Artusa Hall.

This camp is mandatory for all GAC Middle and High School Dance Team participants.
