more than just a break from academics.
At Greater Atlanta Christian School, our Spiritual Retreats are more than just a break from academics-they are sacred moments where relationships and priorities are reoriented around Christ.
Each year, GAC students step away from their regular routines to participate in Spiritual Retreats designed to set the tone for all that happens during the school year.
Whether on campus or off-site, these retreats create space for worship services, biblical teaching, meaningful small group conversations, service projects, and shared experiences like games and activities that build authentic community. Students are encouraged to pause, reflect, and engage with their faith in a focused and intentional way alongside their classmates and teachers.
These experiences often become some of the most memorable and impactful moments of a student's year.

It's about creating formative, real relationships with one another before diving into academic material. That connection makes all the difference.

High School Spiritual Retreat
One of GAC's most anticipated traditions, the High School Spiritual Retreat provides students with an extended opportunity to step away from daily distractions and focus on faith, relationships, and personal growth. Held at an off-site retreat center, this experience combines worship, biblical teaching, small-group discussions, recreation, and community-building activities that encourage students to grow deeper in their walk with Christ and stronger in their relationships with one another.

Middle School Spiritual Retreat
The Middle School Spiritual Retreat is an on-campus experience that combines worship, guest speakers, small-group discussions, service projects, games, and activities. Students explore age-relevant topics that help them better understand God's character, their identity in Christ, and what it means to live out their faith today.

Lower School Spiritual Retreat
Designed specifically for younger students, the on-campus Lower School Spiritual Retreat for 3rd-5th grade introduces biblical themes through worship, interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and community-building experiences. Students learn more about God's love while growing alongside their classmates in a fun and engaging environment.

Middle School Winter Retreat
Held midway through the school year at an off-site location, the Middle School Winter Retreat provides students with a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with God, strengthen friendships, and refocus as a community.

High School Campout
The High School Campout is a unique and memorable community-building experience for students. Spending the evening together on campus, students pitch tents on Spartan Stadium, enjoy games and s'mores, participate in worship, and connect with friends and faculty in a relaxed setting.

Spiritual Retreats are just the BEST! The connections made through worship, devotion, conversations, and games create “pour in” moments focused on Christ. We get a beautiful opportunity away from the classroom to taste and see that the Lord is good. These retreats help us live into our mission that our students would grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Cohesive Yearly Theme
Each retreat supports GAC's annual Christian Life theme and guiding Scripture verse, helping students engage more deeply with the spiritual focus of the school year. Past themes have encouraged students to explore biblical truths such as God's faithfulness, identity in Christ, purpose, belonging, and what it means to be fully known and loved by God.
A Lasting Impact
While Spiritual Retreats may last only a day or a few days, their impact often extends far beyond the event itself.
Many students identify retreat experiences as moments when they formed lasting friendships, gained confidence in their faith, discovered new perspectives, or took important next steps in their relationship with Christ.
Spiritual Retreats are one of the many ways GAC intentionally invests in the spiritual growth of every student.
