It’s time to join in with one of GAC's most cherished traditions, in which everyone celebrates our newest alumni with notes of encouragement! These letters are written to individual Seniors, speaking words of encouragement and affection.  The Alumni Office streamlines the letter process and ensures that every senior receives at least one. In this unique year, we are encouraging everyone to submit electronic notes to students via our online form. Please share this link with your family, friends and special teachers.  Anyone can contribute a thoughtful note to our special Seniors.
 

Dear Class of 2020 and Parents:

I am writing to let you know just how much we miss you and are saddened by the postponement of the “rites of passage” that you typically experience this time of year. For many of you, it is the culmination of years spent at GAC and memories that bring joy, or remind you of growth, at our school. We recognize this week alone had several of those monumental events.  I want you to know that you have not been forgotten and that we care deeply for you.

Even today, as a way to have some fun and honor what would have been Prom, we have asked students and faculty to dress up and take a picture that we can post to our Student Life Instagram page. We have already received some great shots coming in! Have your students dress up and send their pictures here!

As another way to show our Seniors a little bit of love, our GAC bus drivers will be driving to each Senior’s home to deliver a special surprise gift.  We hope you will be happy to see these special couriers and what they are delivering to you. They will be utilizing best practices of social distancing similar to an Amazon delivery.  Many of you have already received their gift, and if you have not it is on the way. It has taken several days to reach all 172 Seniors - well worth the effort!

Many have asked about our plans as it relates to some of the major events for you and I want to provide you with our current thoughts. However, please note that this is a changing landscape and we can only pray that our plans may be able to occur safely.

We are working to finalize plans for a full Senior Week, at the end of the summer, with celebrations throughout the week. We will have a Seniors’ Hangout & Food Trucks; Prom; and the traditional Senior Walk, Senior Brunch, and Senior Devotional. And finally, the Commencement ceremony. You will receive additional details as they unfold. 

While many of these events may look different than any of us planned, we are still dedicated to creating outstanding experiences that seek to allow you to celebrate a significant milestone as you move into your next inspiring season of life. While these plans are not finalized, I wanted you to get an idea of the direction we are moving.  One tradition we can get started on is the Senior Letter project, supported by our GAC Alumni officer, Kaleigh Hartley.
