GAC Announces Rebekah McWhorter as Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

GAC is excited to announce that Rebekah McWhorter will join the GAC family as our Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. McWhorter brings a wealth of experience, a heart for mentorship, and a championship pedigree to the Spartan athletic family. In addition to coaching, she will be teaching physical education in the Lower School.

An accomplished player and coach, McWhorter offers a deep understanding of high school soccer paired with a passion for developing young women both on and off the field. She is recognized for her ability to train, evaluate, and motivate student-athletes while fostering a team culture built on trust, discipline, and competitive excellence.

A standout goalkeeper at Parkview High School, McWhorter helped lead the Panthers to two GHSA 5A State Championships (2003 and 2005). Her performance earned her First Team All-County honors and two individual school records for goals-against average and shutouts. She continued her playing career at Berry College, contributing to a 2009 NAIA Sweet 16 National Tournament appearance.

McWhorter has since built an impressive coaching résumé, highlighted by her most recent tenure at Grayson High School, where she led the Varsity Girls Soccer team to over 70 wins, multiple region titles, and served as an assistant coach on the 2015 State Championship team. Her accomplishments also include being named the Georgia DiVarsity 6A Coach of the Year in 2016 and the Georgia DiVarsity 7A Coach of the Year in 2017.

McWhorter has guided players to collegiate and national team success, including selections to the USA and Brazil U20 Women’s National Teams.

Coach McWhorter shared her excitement for joining the Spartan community:

"I am extremely blessed and excited to step into the role of leading the Girls Soccer Program at GAC. It is a prestigious program that will allow me to combine my passion for my faith and soccer as I look to continue the tradition of excellence. I am also looking forward to building relationships with the players and their families as we strive to reach new levels on the field, in the classroom, and in their relationship with the Lord. I would like to thank Athletic Director Tim Hardy and President Scott Harsh at GAC for having confidence in my ability to lead this program and engage with the community. I am honored to be a part of GAC's mission and to bring my family to a Christ-centered community," she said.

"Additionally, I want to acknowledge that it has been wonderful to be part of the Grayson Community for the last 14 years. I would like to thank Brian DeBerry and Dana Pugh for providing me with the opportunity to start my coaching career.”
