The GAC student leadership team embarked on an unforgettable backpacking adventure in Colorado, accompanied by GAC President, Dr. Scott Harsh, High School Principal, Dr. Paul Cable, and High School Dean of Student Culture, Jes Guarneri. This annual trip serves as a time of exploration and personal growth, allowing our student leaders to challenge themselves physically and mentally while deepening their understanding of leadership from those who lead at GAC.
This year, the group studied Bill Robinson’s Incarnate Leadership, diving deep into how we can learn about leadership from the most perfect leader: Jesus. Through reflection, discussion, and real-world application in the rugged Colorado terrain, students gained valuable insights into servant leadership and the responsibilities that come with leading others by example.
The Prefect System is comprised of student leaders from the Senior Class (selected during their junior year) who exhibit a high degree of commitment to GAC’s values and ideals. Their influence within our school community is rooted in their character and demonstrated through dedicated service to the school. Prefects play a vital role in shaping the culture of GAC through their servant leadership, always putting others before themselves and not seeking special privileges.
Each Prefect is responsible for forming a committee of students in grades 9-12 to assist with tasks related to their designated area of focus. These senior leaders oversee work in their specific domains and mentor underclassmen involved in their initiatives. Unlike conventional leadership roles that come with formal authority, Prefects lead by example, deriving their effectiveness from their personal convictions and their role as models of GAC’s values.
At GAC, we believe that positive peer influence fosters a strong sense of engagement, enthusiasm, and a thriving school culture. Prefects assume significant responsibilities in the daily life of the school, making meaningful contributions that leave a lasting impact on the GAC community.
