A Hall of Fame Career Continues: Jasmine Jones Enters the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame

GAC alumna (Class of 2020) and Olympian Jasmine Jones was officially inducted into the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame on Monday night, as part of the Class of 2026 honored at the 15th annual ceremony held at Gas South Convention Center.

While her career has taken her across the globe, the evening served as a homecoming celebration—recognizing the Gwinnett County roots that helped shape one of the world’s elite track and field athletes. Jones was inducted alongside fellow honorees Charlie Blackmon, Gabby Curry Thompson, and longtime swim coach Chris Davis, all of whom share deep ties to the local community.

Introduced by her former Greater Atlanta Christian coach, Brad Kinser, Jones reflected on the people who played a pivotal role in her journey, expressing gratitude for the support system that has surrounded her since her earliest days in the sport.

That support has fueled a rise that began at GAC, where Jones became one of the most decorated athletes in school history. Despite missing her senior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she captured 12 state championships and established herself as a dominant force in Georgia track and field. Her high school career was defined not only by athletic excellence, but also by her involvement in dance and theatre, showcasing a well-rounded approach that helped sustain her passion for competition.

Jones continued her success at the University of Southern California, earning NCAA national titles in the 400-meter relay, 60-meter hurdles, and 400-meter hurdles. She later ascended to the international stage, representing Team USA in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she finished fourth in the world with a personal-best performance. She followed that achievement with a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, further solidifying her place among the sport’s elite.

The event also served a greater purpose beyond recognition, functioning as an annual fundraiser for the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation. Over the past 15 years, the Hall of Fame has raised more than $1 million to support students and teachers across the county.

For Jones, the honor comes as her professional career continues to rise. Still in the early stages of her journey, she remains focused on future goals, including upcoming international competitions and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Her induction into the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame stands as both a celebration of what she has already accomplished and a reflection of the lasting impact she has made on her community. For Greater Atlanta Christian, it is another proud moment in the legacy of a student-athlete who continues to represent the Spartan standard at the highest level.
