Andrea Braun Has Been Named As The New Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach

GAC has announced the appointment of Andrea Braun as Head Coach of the GAC Girls Lacrosse program. Braun, a veteran coach and respected figure in Georgia lacrosse, succeeds TJ Dixon, who has stepped down after five seasons in the role.

Braun joined the Spartan staff in 2022 and has been an integral part of the program’s recent success, including the school’s first Area Championship and multiple playoff victories. With deep ties to the Atlanta lacrosse community, Braun has coached at Mill Creek High School, Georgia Tech Club Lacrosse, and helped launch the first FCA girls’ lacrosse program in Georgia. Her leadership in the sport has been widely recognized—she was inducted into the Georgia Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2021, named Georgia Lacrosse Woman of the Year in 2019, and honored three times as Gwinnett County Assistant Coach of the Year.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Head Coach for the GAC Girls’ Lacrosse program,” Braun said. “Over the past three seasons as an assistant, I’ve seen firsthand the growth, commitment, and heart of this team. I want to thank Coach Dixon for the countless hours of hard work and dedication he has poured into our athletes and for the foundation he has built. I’m excited to carry that forward and lead this team as we pursue new goals and continued success together.”

Before coming to GAC, Braun led Mill Creek to the playoffs in every season of her tenure, including a trip to the 2019 GHSA State Championship. She also guided Georgia Tech Club Lacrosse to three consecutive conference playoff appearances from 2022–2025. Beyond her coaching accolades, Braun has made a significant impact in growing the sport statewide, particularly through her work with FCA lacrosse.

The transition follows the decision by Coach TJ Dixon to step down from his position after five seasons leading the Spartans. Dixon, who also serves as GAC’s Middle School Principal, cited increased responsibilities in his role and a desire to prioritize family time as the reasons for his decision.

Since taking over the program in 2021, Dixon guided the Spartans to an Area Championship, multiple second-round playoff appearances, and helped establish a cohesive K–12 lacrosse structure at GAC. Known for his character-driven leadership, he emphasized culture, accountability, and integrity throughout his tenure.

Leading this program has been one of the greatest blessings of my coaching career,” Dixon said. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have led such a special group of players over the years and to have been a part of a community that feels more like a family than just a team.”

The GAC Athletic Department expresses its gratitude to Dixon for his contributions while looking forward to the next chapter under Braun’s direction.
