The Boston Red Sox have selected Conrad Cason (GAC Class of 2024) in the Eighth Round of the 2024 MLB Draft!
Named as the 2023-2024 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Georgia, Cason has truly made an impact with GAC’s Varsity Baseball team. This past season Conrad helped lead the Spartans to a Region 6-AAAAA Title and an Elite Eight appearance.
During his senior season, Cason hit 36-for-99 (.364) with three home runs, 28 RBIs, five doubles, two triples, 32 runs, 25 walks, 16 stolen bases, a .519 on-base percentage and a 1.064 OPS. On the mound, Conrad showcased his powerful arm as a pitcher going 7-1 on the season with a 0.48 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings.
Last Fall, Conrad signed with Mississippi State University. Whether he commits to playing in college as a Bulldog or plays professionally with the Red Sox. Conrad will position himself as a right-handed pitcher/infielder at the next level.
Some of Conrad’s other accolades include being named as the Gwinnett Daily Post Pitcher of the Year and the Gwinnett Dugout Club Two-Way Player of the Year.
“I could not be happier for Conrad and his family for his selection in the MLB draft. Conrad joins a great list of Spartans who have been selected in the draft and continue to represent the great tradition that is GAC Baseball at the highest level. His selection today is a testament to his outstanding work ethic and faith that the Lord would one day open this door for him,” said GAC varsity head baseball coach Josh Lee.
