Current GAC 6th Grader Balances Hybrid Learning and National Gymnastics Title

At Greater Atlanta Christian School, a number of students participate in a hybrid learning schedule that allows them to pursue advanced interests outside the traditional school day while remaining fully engaged in their academics. Through the school’s Ethos Online School  and GAC Synchronous Learning technology, students are supported as they balance coursework with intensive training, travel, and competition. One such student is sixth grader Zoë Gomas.

Gomas recently captured first-place, all-around titles at the state, regional, and national levels, earning the National Gymnastics Championship on June 5, 2025 and becoming a national champion at just 10 years old. While her athletic achievements are exceptional, Gomas continues to thrive academically through GAC’s hybrid program, which offers the flexibility needed to support her demanding training schedule. She is now Level 8 USA Gymnastics.

According to her mother, Dr. Oksana Gomas, Zoë’s weekdays begin well before sunrise. “Beginning the first day of classes in August, her weekdays start at 5:50 a.m. with an early drive to Watkinsville for four hours of gymnastics training at Georgia Elite Gymnastics Center,” she shared. “After practice, she changes into her school uniform and eats lunch in the car during the 50-mile drive to Greater Atlanta Christian School, arriving by 1:00 p.m. for in-person classes in math, honors English, and science.”

Dr. Gomas explained that Zoë returns home shortly after 5:00 p.m., completes her Ethos  Bible class, eats dinner, and finishes homework and reading before going to bed around 10:00 p.m., ready to repeat the routine the next day.

In addition to her rigorous weekday schedule, Zoë spends weekends traveling for competitions, attending church, and taking piano lessons.

Zoë exemplifies the dedication, discipline, and perseverance we strive to instill in our students. We are honored to help ensure Zoë has the academic foundation she needs to thrive as an elite athlete through our hybrid program.
