Desiree Elliott Named Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach at Greater Atlanta Christian School

Greater Atlanta Christian School is proud to announce the hiring of Desiree Elliott as the new Head Coach for Varsity Girls Volleyball. A former NCAA Division I standout and professional athlete, Elliott brings elite playing experience, strong coaching credentials, and a passion for developing student-athletes.

The GAC Volleyball program has had phenomenal success over the past five years, winning back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022, finishing as state runner-ups in 2023, reaching the Sweet 16 in 2024, and advancing to the Elite 8 this past season. GAC strives to continue that success under the leadership of Coach Elliott.

“I am excited to announce that we have selected Desiree Elliott as our new Head Volleyball Coach,” said GAC Athletic Director Tim Hardy. “Coach Elliott embodies the characteristics we want in a head coach at GAC. First, she has a very strong Christian faith that is reflected in her coaching philosophy. Second, she has a natural ability to connect with student-athletes and foster trust through relationships. Finally, she loves volleyball and has a passion for using the game to develop her athletes as people and players. She has an elite understanding of the game, and we are excited to have Coach Elliott as our new Head Volleyball Coach at GAC.”

A native of Houston, Texas, Elliott starred collegiately at Louisiana State University, where she was a four-year standout from 2010–2013. During her career with the Tigers, she earned All-SEC honors each of the four seasons and was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2010. Elliott became the 20th player in LSU program history to surpass 1,000 career kills, finishing with 1,182 career kills and 375 total blocks.

Following her collegiate career, Elliott played professionally for the Düdingen Volley Powercats in Switzerland, helping the club finish runner-up in the Swiss National Cup.

Elliott also brings a diverse background in coaching and education to GAC. Most recently, she served as Associate Head Volleyball Coach and Physical Education Teacher at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Sandy Springs during the 2024–25 school year, where she helped guide the program to a regional championship and Elite Eight appearance in the state tournament.

Prior to moving to Georgia, Elliott coached and taught in Texas at Cypress Fairbanks ISD and The Kinkaid School, where she served as Volleyball Program Director from 2019–2023, overseeing the development of both middle and high school volleyball programs. She also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania in the Ivy League.

Elliott says she is grateful for the opportunity to lead the Spartan volleyball program and looks forward to investing in the lives of student-athletes.

“I am truly honored to step into the role of Head Coach for the Greater Atlanta Christian volleyball program. My passion for volleyball, player development, and teaching student-athletes to become mentally and physically strong is a gift that I am devoted to stewarding faithfully," Elliott said. My goal is to lead our program by encouraging students and helping our players develop in wisdom, character, faith, and purpose, and to model the same grace and heart that so many coaches and mentors have shown me. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our players, fostering an environment where every student feels seen and supported, and helping our program shine as a light in the community.”
