Elementary School Students Jump Right In!

Our elementary school students win the prize for “cheerful” giving, that’s for sure. While working and playing and even fundraising, they enjoy themselves! Since 1982, GAC has raised money for the American Heart Association, led by GAC P.E. teacher Kristy Shelton. This year, students raised over $41K to fight our nation’s number one cause of death: heart disease.

Ms. Shelton’s focus was teaching the children life-long lessons about giving, especially not giving reluctantly or in response to pressure. The scripture was 2 Corinthians 9:7. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

“We want our children to grow up with healthy spiritual hearts. One of the things I love about this ministry is the fact that our students give up the prizes they earn during this fundraising. Instead they send them with GAC high school mission teams to Honduras. I personally got to see the smiles of the children in Honduras who received jump ropes, t-shirts, and playground balls from our Lower School students,” Ms. Shelton said.
