Senior Chris Hinton becomes the fourth Spartan Football player in the past five years honored with an invitation to play in the 2019 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. “Out of over 1 million high school football players, only 90 are selected to play in this game,” Head Coach Tim Hardy said.
The game is designed to curate the most elite players of the country, many of whom will continue on into the NFL.
Hinton’s Spartan predecessors to represent GAC in the game include:
Kyler McMichael in 2018
Davis Milles in 2016
Darius Slayton in 2014
McMichael continues his football career at Clemson University, Mills plays for Stanford, and Slayton is in his third season at Auburn University.
According to the AJC, Hinton is rated as the No. 2 strong-side defensive end and No. 23 overall player nationally. Not only does he have the accolades to earn an invite to the prestigious bowl game, his talents have also proven multifaceted, winning the title of State Champion in basketball this past winter season.
Hinton verbally committed to Michigan earlier this year.
The 2019 bowl game will be played on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas and will be aired live on NBC at 1:00 p.m.
