GAC's Varsity Game Day Cheerleading team reached the top of the podium on December 3, capturing the 2025 GHSA 3A Game Day Cheerleading State Championship at the Columbus State Center.

The state title marks a historic achievement for the program, which is in just its second season competing in the Game Day Cheer category. After finishing third in its inaugural season last year, the Spartans showcased tremendous growth and composure to claim the championship in dramatic fashion.

Game Day Cheer competition evaluates teams on skills used to energize and lead a crowd during football and basketball games. Teams are judged in three segments — cheer, band chant, and fight song. The highest-scoring teams in those areas advance to the finals, where all elements are combined into an additional three-minute routine.

GAC competed in two rounds at the state competition. Following the qualifying round, the Spartans sat in fifth place overall heading into the finals. After an hour-long break, GAC returned to the floor and delivered an excellent final routine. When scores were announced, the Spartans edged defending state champion Mary Persons High School by a razor-thin margin of 0.07 points to secure the state championship.

Led by Head Coach Karyn Ivester, the championship performance reflected the dedication and resilience of the entire program.

“I’m so proud of this team and the hard work they’ve put in this season,” Ivester said. “It’s been such a blessing to see their hard work pay off, and to bring home the first state championship in school history! The Lord is so good! Go Spartans!”

The state title represents a major milestone for GAC Cheerleading and highlights Greater Atlanta Christian School’s continued commitment to excellence in athletics.
