After defeating Dalton High School 3-2 in a harrowing match, the Spartans are heading back to the state championship match for the third consecutive year in a row.

The GAC Volleyball program continued their historic run this season. Previously, the Spartans captured the 2021 AAA GHSA State Championship, and after a change in classifications, the 2022 AAAAA GHSA State Championship as well. Both of those titles were led by previous head coach Rachel Vanderpol. This year, the Spartans are led by head coach Crystal Brittain (who was an assistant coach last season).

The Final four match against Dalton High School went down to the wire. The Spartans trailed after three sets 2-1, but they rallied in the fourth set to tie the match. GAC then went onto dominate the fifth and final set to secure their berth in the championship match. 

Now, Coach Brittain is preparing her team to face McIntosh High School in the 2023 AAAAA State Championship on Saturday, November 4th. The match begins at 1:30 PM and it will take place at Lakepoint Sports Complex.

Seniors Gracie Rose and Maddie Burrough were standout performers for GAC in their Final Four match. Rose was named as the Region 6-AAAAA Player of the Year, while Burrough was named as the Region 6-AAAAA Defensive Player of the Year. Both players are looking to capture their third state championship.
