On September 12th, GAC's Varsity Volleyball team dedicated their match to the incredible Kristy Shelton, who has faithfully served Greater Atlanta Christian for an amazing 43 years.

Starting her coaching journey in 1983 with softball, Coach Shelton built a legacy over her 18-year career, winning 5 State Championships.

She then became our varsity volleyball head coach from 2001-2016, amassing 450 wins, taking our Spartans to 3 Final Fours, a State Runner-Up finish, and earning Region Coach of the Year 4 times. She was named Gwinnett County Coach of the Year in 2007 & 2011 and State Coach of the Year in 2011.

Even after stepping down, Coach Shelton continued to shape GAC’s volleyball dynasty as an assistant coach from 2020-2022, contributing to 2 State Championships in 2021 & 2022. Since 2012, she has nurtured young talent through the Spartan League, formerly the elementary feeder program.

For over four decades, Kristy Shelton has poured her heart into GAC, leaving an everlasting impact on our school and community. She will retire at the end of the school year. Thank you, Coach Shelton, for your unwavering commitment, passion, and dedication to GAC athletics.
