Our Varsity Track and Field team had the pleasure of hosting the Region Track Meet for AAAAA-Region 6 at Spartan Stadium this week.
Led by head coach Brad Kinser, both the Varsity Girls and Boys Track teams competed at a high level. The Varsity Girls tied for 2nd place in the Region with 135 points overall, and the Varsity Boys finished in third place with 124 points.
Standout performances for the girls included senior Nia Wilson who won first place in both the 100 meter dash (10.89) and the 200 meter dash (21.91). Freshman Ava Kitchings placed first in the long jump, along with finishing second in the 100 meter dash. Senior Morgan Collins placed 2nd overall in both the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter.
For the boys, Junior Gabe Daniels placed first in both the 100 (10.89) and 200 meter dash (21.91). Senior Aidan McKinnie finished first in the long jump and second in the 200 meter dash (21.98). Senior Josiah Asfaw finished 2nd in the 800 meter dash (1:58.30). Senior Colton Harsh placed 3rd overall in the 1600 meter run (4:20.68) and set a GAC school record in the process.
