Senior Quarterback Jack Stanton Breaks GAC's School Record for Passing Yards in a Game

The 2023-2024 season opener went really well for GAC's Varsity Football team. The Spartans had a commanding 39-14 victory of 7A opponent, Meadowcreek High School. This was GAC's first victory over a 7A opponent in school history.

Starting off the season 1-0 was great, but all eyes on campus quickly turned towards a rivalry matchup on the road with The Lovett School. Last year's game came down to the wire as quarterback Jack Stanton connected with one of his leading receivers, Xavier Daisy, on a game-winning touchdown pass with eight seconds remaining. The rivalry game was not as riveting this year, as the Spartans came out victorious 36-13.

However, senior quarterback Jack Stanton provided another amazing performance against the Lovett Lions and he broke the GAC school record for passing yards in a game with 392 yards through the air. The previous record was set by Rafe Chapple (GAC Class of 2014) who threw for 366 yards against Heard County in 2012.

"It was a fun experience. I had no clue until Coach Hardy called me the next morning to let me know. It was a really fun, I could not have done it without my teammates. They helped a lot. It's just a fun thing to have, putting my name in the record book," said senior quarterback Jack Stanton.
