GAC had a wonderful start to the school year this morning as faculty and students from pre-first to seniors gathered in the Long Forum for a time of worship, reflection, and celebration. The energy was palpable in the room and all were excited to be together and to launch into school. A new school year means new beginnings, new goals, and a fresh perspective. Head Prefect Johnny Meshramkar encouraged the student body to be present this school year and truly take in and enjoy each experience, even as they work hard towards their goals.
Dr. Harsh shared the year’s new theme, Reflect His Image, Lead with Love. This theme is founded in the scripture 1 John 4:12: “No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us and His love is brought to full expression in us.” Dr. Harsh reminded students that whether through the way they treat each other in person or through social media, they have an opportunity to reflect the great love that God continues to show us every moment. He shared a picture he took from the camping trip with the Prefects this summer in which the great mountain ranges, aglow from the sunrise, are perfectly reflected in the water. This image is a magnificent symbol of God’s reflection in our lives. “Let’s light this place with God’s power,” Dr. Harsh said.
