Varsity Baseball Walks-Off Trinity Christian School To Reach the Sweet 16

GAC's Varsity Baseball team made a loud statement to open the GHSA Private State Playoffs, traveling on the road and sweeping Trinity Christian in a thrilling first-round series.

The Spartans wasted no time setting the tone, powering their way to a 15-4 victory in Game 1 behind an explosive offensive performance. GAC’s lineup delivered multiple big swings, highlighted by R.J. Pierre’s two home runs and three RBIs, Dahn Fernandez’s four-RBI outing, and Ian Cobbs adding a home run of his own. Trust Stopher and Jared Givins also contributed at the plate as the Spartans piled on runs early and often.

Game 2 brought even more drama—and more power. In a back-and-forth battle, GAC secured the sweep with a 10-8 walk-off victory, capped by Jared Givins’ clutch three-run home run to end it. The Spartans launched a total of eight home runs across the two games, showcasing one of their most explosive offensive performances of the season.

Ian Cobbs led the charge in Game 2, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs. Trust Stopher added another home run and three RBIs, while Zach Koons chipped in with two hits, including a double. On the mound, Jack Wilson delivered five innings with six strikeouts to help keep GAC within striking distance before the late-game heroics.

With the sweep, the Spartans improve to 17-11 on the season and advance to the second round, where they will travel to face No. 3 seed Hebron Christian on April 30.

GAC heads into the next round with momentum, confidence, and a lineup that is heating up at the perfect time.
