Lacrosse has reached new heights at GAC this season. Both the Varsity Girls and Boys Lacrosse teams have qualified for the playoffs, and they have done so in record breaking fashion.
The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team secured a home playoff game, which is the first in their programs history. They also defeated the Wesleyan Wolves 18-17 after being down 15-7 at halftime. This was the first time ever that GAC had defeated Wesleyan in girls lacrosse. Later in the week, the Varsity Girls defeated Woodward Academy 17-3 to secure their first Area Championship.
All of these accomplishments lead toward a postseason matchup with Johns Creek High School on Tuesday, April 25th. The Varsity Girls game will begin at 6 PM live from Spartan Stadium.
For the Varsity Boys Lacrosse team, they had a tough season last year after several veteran players graduated from the program. However, under the leadership of new head coach Newton Babb, the Spartans vastly improved. Young players grew up this season and the Spartans clinched the Area Championship against Woodward Academy. The team is paced by leading goal scorers James Canipe and Harrison Voelzke. They now will face Cambridge High School in the second portion of the double-header at 8 PM.
It will be a great environment on campus for both teams, so make sure to come out and support both teams! Tickets for the double-header are $10.
