The GAC Varsity Boys and Girls Swim and Dive teams showcased their talent at the state swim meet, accomplishing several achievements and record-breaking feats. Led by head coach Emily Krug, both teams performed admirably at state.
Listed below are some of the top finishes from the state meet:
Headline Relay Events:
- The Varsity Girls won the 200 free relay with a time of (1:36.96). Madeline House (junior), Abigail Heizer (junior), Rylie Hill (senior), and Abby Sutter (freshman) competed in the event.
- The boys' medley relay broke a 14-year-old record, clocking in at an impressive 1:36.81. Luke Stanley (senior), James Sorenson (sophomore), Richard Vo (sophomore), and Carson Credendino (sophomore) swam in the relay. This earned them 3rd place overall.
The girls' medley relay demonstrated their prowess, and they finished in 2nd place.
Top Individual Performances:
- Abigail Heizer (junior) made waves by clinching 2nd place in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events, re-breaking her own school records.
- Madeline House (junior) had a great performance and secured 2nd place in the 500 free.
- For the boys team, Luke Stanley (senior) continued to make an impact, finishing 3rd in the 100 breast and re-breaking his own record.
Other Individual Achievements:
- Carson Credidino showed resilience, finishing 19th in the highly competitive 100 fly.
- Rylie Hill claimed the 20th spot in the intense 50 free.
- Madeline House earned 5th place in the 100 fly.
- Abby Sutter had a strong 6th place finish in the 100 fly.
- Kelsey Dixon (freshman) made a mark in diving, securing the 8th position.
- Ki displayed endurance, finishing 19th in the 100 free.
- Aiden Daniels (senior) claimed 15th place in the 100 free.
- James Sorenson showcased his skill, finishing 5th in the competitive 100 back.
- Richard Vo displayed determination, earning the 16th spot in the 100 back.
- Abby Sutter exhibited strength, claiming 7th place in the challenging 100 back.
- Caroline Parker (sophomore) showcased her skills in the 200 IM, finishing 20th in a highly competitive field.
