On Saturday, the Varsity Girls Swim & Dive team captured third place overall at the 2023 GHSA AAAAA-AAAA state meet. Held at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Georgia Tech’s campus, the Spartans competed against the top teams in the state from Prelims at 9 AM to the Finals which began at 6 PM.
Some highlights from the event include sophomore Abigail Heizer winning the 50-yard freestyle. Senior Ainsley Bennett finished third in the 500 Free, and sophomore Madeline House also finished fifth in the 100 Butterfly.
The 200 medley relay led by Ainsley Bennett, Caroline Parker, Madeline House, and Abigail Heizer, won first place as well.
The Varsity Boys Swim team finished within the Top 20 overall, and were led by junior Luke Stanley who finished fourth in the 100 Breast.
“They honestly all preformed to the best of their ability! Best times all around and making it back to finals to complete for their team was our goal and they accomplished that. There were a lot talented teams there and both our girls and boys encouraged one another through the meet to use the talent God has blessed them with to race,” said Head Coach Emily Krug.
